Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1971 Firebird Esprit Formula Trans Am White Premier Perforated Vinyl 5-Bow Headliner with Sun Visor and Sail Panel Material, Acme 71-1513-PRP1181.

This replacement headliner is manufactured for 1971 Pontiac Firebird two-door models equipped with the original suspended five-bow headliner system. It is sewn using Acme’s original factory-pattern design and manufactured from reproduced White Premier Perforated Vinyl for a factory-style appearance, texture and fit. 

The sewn listings on the back of the headliner accept the vehicle’s original five metal support bows. Before removing the original headliner, each bow should be identified according to its front-to-rear position and transferred into the corresponding listing of the new headliner. The five metal bows are not included.

Acme supplies the headliner with T-hangers and matching loose material yardage for recovering the vehicle’s original sun visors . The extra material is unfinished covering material. It does not include completed sun visors, replacement visor cores, finished visor brackets, or mounting hardware.

Premier Perforated Vinyl is intended for factory-style deluxe-interior applications. Vehicles originally equipped with a standard interior may use a non-perforated headliner material. Customers completing a factory-original restoration should verify the vehicle’s interior trim code and original material before ordering.

This product is a tailored, pre-sewn suspended headliner. It is not loose material by the yard, foam-backed board material, a molded ABS headliner board or a board-to-bow conversion kit.

Fitment Warnings

Verify five bows before ordering: This product fits vehicles retaining the original suspended five-bow headliner system. Count the bows and inspect the roof mounting points before removing the existing headliner.

Deluxe-interior material: Premier Perforated Vinyl is associated with deluxe-interior headliner applications. Standard-interior cars may require Premier Non-Perforated Vinyl instead.

Bows not included: The vehicle must retain five usable original bows or a replacement five-bow set must be purchased separately.

Windlace not included: Any required windlace, perimeter trim or trim kit must be reused or ordered separately.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Before removing the original headliner, label each bow according to its position from front to rear. The bows may differ in length and contour and should be returned to their original locations.

Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, dome-light assembly, coat hooks, windlace and surrounding roof moldings as necessary to release the old headliner. Preserve all reusable trim pieces and mounting hardware.

Carefully remove the original five bows and slide them through the corresponding sewn listings in the replacement headliner. Do not force the bows through the material or interchange their positions.

Install the supplied T-hangers according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Confirm that each bow is correctly seated in the roof mounting points before beginning final stretching.

Center the headliner from front to rear and side to side. Secure and tension the material progressively while alternating between opposite sides. Pulling one side fully tight before working the other can create wrinkles or shift the headliner off-center.

Do not make final perimeter cuts until the headliner is centered, evenly tensioned and checked for correct bow placement. Cut openings for the dome light, visor brackets and coat hooks only after final positioning.

Use the included matching material to recover the original sun-visor cores and sail panels where applicable. Recovering sun visors may require sewing, binding and automotive upholstery equipment. Finished ready-to-install sun visors are not included.

Professional installation is recommended by the manufacturer. Bow-style headliners require careful positioning, progressive stretching and controlled trimming.

Photography, electronic displays, lighting, aged original trim and production dye-lot variation may alter the perceived shade. Compare a physical PRP1181 White material sample when precise color matching is required.
