Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Carmine Red Foam-Backed Cloth Headliner Material, Material Only, Acme 74-1413-1611.
This replacement automotive headliner material is intended for recovering a clean, dry and structurally sound original or replacement headliner board. The Carmine Red cloth face provides a rich factory-style red interior appearance, while the attached foam backing creates the cushioned layer needed between the visible fabric and the headliner board.
This material can replace headliner cloth that has become faded, stained, torn, loose or separated from deteriorated foam. It may also be used when recovering a compatible headliner board during a custom interior conversion.
This listing includes the flexible foam-backed cloth material only. A molded headliner board, sun visors, visor brackets, roof trim, mounting hardware and installation adhesive are not included.

Application note: This product is flexible covering material rather than a molded or pre-cut headliner board. NPD lists Carmine foam-backed cloth as usable with reusable 1974-1981 Camaro and Firebird/Trans Am headliner boards, while its more specific restoration application information most directly associates Carmine with 1978-1980 vehicles.
Factory-originality note: Foam-backed cloth was most commonly used in later second-generation F-body interiors. Headliner Express notes that 1977-1981 Camaros equipped with cloth interiors used cloth headliners, while earlier and other applications frequently used perforated vinyl. Confirm the vehicle’s build year, roof configuration and original interior material when completing a factory-correct restoration.
INSTALLATION NOTES
Remove the headliner board from the vehicle before recovering it. Carefully strip away the old covering, deteriorated foam and loose adhesive without damaging the board.
The board must be clean, dry and structurally sound. Remove all remaining foam residue and repair cracked edges, weakened mounting locations or damaged areas before applying the replacement material.
Dry-fit and center the cloth before applying adhesive. Use a high-temperature automotive headliner adhesive compatible with foam-backed cloth. Work gradually from the center toward the outer edges to reduce wrinkles, trapped air and uneven tension.
Do not excessively stretch the cloth. Stretching may distort the fabric surface, compress the foam backing or place unnecessary strain on the adhesive bond.
Allow the adhesive to cure according to its instructions before trimming excess material or reinstalling the board. Professional installation is recommended when the original headliner board is brittle, warped, cracked or previously repaired.
Material colors may appear different because of monitor settings, photography lighting, aging original components and production dye-lot variations. Compare a physical material sample with the vehicle’s existing Carmine trim when a close color match is required.
