Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Dark Red Foam-Backed Perforated Vinyl ABS Hardtop Headliner Board with Upper Seat Belt Retractor Cutouts, Acme AFH21-FBH5.

Replace a sagging, cracked, warped or deteriorated original headliner with this complete molded ABS replacement headliner board. The board is pre-covered in Dark Red foam-backed perforated vinyl, providing a finished factory-style appearance without requiring the headliner material to be purchased or installed separately.

The vacuum-formed ABS board provides a durable replacement for an original pressboard or fiberboard headliner damaged by age, heat, moisture or failed adhesive. It is formed to follow the hardtop roof contour and includes the upper rear seat belt retractor cutouts used with the applicable 1974-1981 Camaro and Firebird interior configuration.

The perforated vinyl face and attached foam backing recreate the padded, textured appearance associated with factory-style vinyl headliners. Acme application information indicates that perforated vinyl was used throughout the 1974-1981 application range, although certain 1977-1981 Camaros equipped with cloth interiors originally used cloth headliners.

This listing is for a complete, pre-covered hardtop headliner board. Sun visors, visor brackets, surrounding roof trim, mounting hardware and dome-light components are not included.

Roof-style warning: This Hawks Motorsports listing is for the hardtop or solid-roof configuration. The board is formed in the hardtop shape. Do not order it expecting a pre-cut T-top opening.

Seat-belt configuration warning: AFH21 includes upper rear seat belt retractor cutouts. Confirm that the vehicle uses this roof and seat-belt arrangement before ordering.

Factory-originality note: Verify the vehicle’s original headliner covering before ordering. Certain 1977-1981 Camaro models equipped with cloth interiors originally used cloth rather than perforated vinyl.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, side roof moldings, rear headliner trim, dome-light assembly and any other components retaining the original headliner. Preserve all reusable clips, screws and brackets because these items are generally not included with the replacement board.

Carefully remove the original headliner and test-fit the new ABS board before cutting the covering material. Confirm that the roof contour, upper seat belt retractor cutouts, visor mounts and surrounding trim locations align correctly.

The ABS board includes pre-cut openings beneath the covering for components such as the dome lamp and sun visor brackets. After positively identifying the required opening, make a small X-shaped cut through the vinyl at its center. Fold the material toward the back of the board and secure it to produce a clean finished edge.

Position the board inside the vehicle and align the seat-belt and sun-visor openings. Install the visor brackets without fully tightening them until the headliner is centered and symmetrical. Reinstall the rear trim panel, surrounding moldings and overhead electrical components after final alignment.

Do not force the board into position or overtighten the mounting hardware. Excessive pressure may damage the ABS board, perforated vinyl covering or original interior trim.

Material colors may appear different because of lighting, electronic display settings, aged original components and production dye-lot variation. Acme does not guarantee an exact color match between reference images and every production run, so comparing a physical sample with the existing Dark Red interior is recommended.
