Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Neutral Tan Foam-Backed Perforated Vinyl ABS Hardtop Headliner Board with Upper Seat Belt Retractor Cutouts, Acme AFH21-FBH8.

Restore the overhead interior of your second-generation Camaro, Firebird, Formula or Trans Am with this complete molded ABS replacement headliner board. The board is pre-covered in Neutral Tan foam-backed perforated vinyl, eliminating the need to separately purchase and install headliner covering material. We identifies the FBH8 color as Neutral Tan, also shortened to Neutral by some catalog systems. This shade is separate from Acme’s Ginger, Buckskin and Camel Tan colors and should not be described interchangeably with those materials.

The molded ABS board is vacuum formed to follow the original hardtop roof contour and provides a durable replacement for an original headliner board that has become warped, cracked, water damaged or structurally deteriorated. The board includes the upper rear seat belt retractor cutouts used with applicable 1974-1981 Camaro and Firebird interiors.

The foam-backed perforated vinyl covering provides a factory-style appearance for vehicles originally equipped with vinyl headliner material. The complete board is formed in the hardtop roof shape and uses the vehicle’s surrounding roof trim and factory-style attachment locations for retention.

1974 application note: Confirm that the vehicle uses the later roof configuration with upper seat belt retractors. We list a separate AFH21A board for late-1973-style vehicles without the seat belt retractor openings.

Roof-style warning: This board is supplied in the hardtop roof shape. Acme documentation indicates that it can be trimmed for certain T-top applications, but multiple factory and aftermarket T-top configurations were used. Verify the exact roof system before cutting or modifying the board.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, side roof moldings, rear headliner trim, dome-light assembly and any other components retaining the original board. Save all reusable clips, screws and brackets because these pieces are not normally included with the replacement headliner.

Test-fit the ABS board before cutting the vinyl covering or reinstalling the surrounding trim. Confirm that the upper seat belt retractor cutouts align with the vehicle and locate all required dome-light, visor and mounting openings.

Some openings may already be formed in the ABS but remain covered by the foam-backed vinyl. After confirming the correct location, make a small X-shaped cut through the material at the center of the opening. Fold the covering toward the rear of the board and secure it to create a clean finished edge.

Install the board using the vehicle’s factory-style attachment locations and surrounding roof trim. Do not force the board into position or overtighten mounting screws, as excessive pressure may damage the ABS board, vinyl covering or original interior moldings.

Professional installation is recommended when converting the board for a T-top roof. Acme notes that different T-top conversion systems require different cutting patterns.

Colors shown on computer monitors and mobile devices may differ from the actual material. Dye lots can also vary, so compare a physical sample with the vehicle’s existing Neutral Tan trim when a close color match is required
