Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Off White Foam-Backed Perforated Vinyl ABS Hardtop Headliner Board with Upper Seat Belt Retractor Cutouts, Acme AFH21-FBH2.

Replace a sagging, cracked, warped or deteriorated original headliner with this complete molded ABS replacement headliner board. The board is pre-covered in Off White foam-backed perforated vinyl, providing a finished factory-style appearance without requiring the covering material to be purchased and installed separately.

Acme identifies FBH2 as Off White within its foam-backed perforated vinyl color family. Off White is a warmer, softer shade than bright white and should remain separate from Acme’s Oyster cloth material. Acme catalogs AFH21-FBH2 as the Off White perforated-vinyl version of its 1974-1981 Camaro and Firebird molded headliner assembly.

The vacuum-formed ABS board provides a durable replacement for an original fiberboard-style headliner damaged by age, moisture, heat or failed adhesive. It follows the hardtop roof contour, works with factory-style attachment locations and includes the upper rear seat belt retractor cutouts used with the applicable second-generation F-body roof configuration.

The foam-backed perforated vinyl creates the padded, textured appearance associated with factory-style vinyl headliners. Accessory openings for the dome light, visor brackets and other mounting locations are pre-cut in the ABS board but may remain concealed beneath the covering until exposed during installation.

This listing includes the complete pre-covered headliner board. Sun visors, visor brackets, surrounding roof trim, dome-light components and mounting hardware are not included.

The AFH21 headliner family is listed for 1975-1981 Camaro and Firebird models and for 1974 vehicles equipped with upper seat belt retractors. The board is molded in the solid-roof shape and includes the applicable upper rear retractor openings.

1974 fitment warning: Verify that the vehicle uses the later-style roof and upper seat belt retractor arrangement. A different board configuration may be required for vehicles without the upper retractor cutouts.

Roof-style warning: This listing is for a hardtop or solid-roof headliner board. The board arrives formed in the hardtop shape and should not be represented as a pre-cut T-top headliner.

T-top application note: Acme provides instructions for modifying the hardtop-shaped AFH21 board for certain T-top installations. Multiple T-top conversion designs were used, so the exact roof system must be identified before cutting the board.

Color note: Off White FBH2 is a perforated-vinyl color. It is not the same material or color code as Oyster cloth 2126. Compare a physical sample with the vehicle’s existing interior when factory color accuracy is required.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Remove the sun visors, visor brackets, side roof moldings, rear headliner trim, dome-light assembly and other components retaining the original headliner. Preserve all reusable screws, clips, brackets and trim because these pieces are not normally included with the replacement board.

Carefully remove the original headliner and test-fit the new ABS board before cutting the Off White covering. Confirm that the upper seat belt retractor cutouts, roof contour, visor mounts and surrounding trim locations align correctly.

The ABS board contains pre-cut accessory openings beneath the covering material. After positively identifying a required opening, make a small X-shaped cut through the vinyl at its center. Fold the material toward the back of the board and secure it to create a clean finished edge.

Position and center the board before fully tightening the sun visor brackets and surrounding trim. Do not force the headliner into place or overtighten the mounting hardware, as excessive pressure may damage the ABS board, covering material or original interior moldings.

Professional installation is recommended before permanently modifying the board for a T-top application. The board must be fitted and marked for the vehicle’s specific T-top system before the roof openings are cut.

Electronic displays, photography lighting, aged original trim and production dye lots can affect perceived color. Acme notes that exact color matches are not guaranteed between dye lots, so a physical material sample should be compared with the existing Off White interior when color accuracy is critical.
