Product Description:

Hawks Motorsports is pleased to offer our clients the following: new aftermarket molded rear hatch cargo-area carpet for the 1985-1992 Chevrolet Camaro, Auto Custom Carpets part #2153.
Restore the rear cargo floor of your third-generation Camaro with vehicle-specific molded cutpile carpet. This replacement is shaped to follow the contours of the Camaro hatch floor, providing a cleaner and more finished result than attempting to cut the cargo section from universal flat carpet.
Original cargo carpet is frequently faded, stained, torn, sun-damaged or contaminated by moisture and years of regular use. Replacing it helps refresh one of the largest and most visible surfaces beneath the Camaro’s glass rear hatch.
ACC #2153 is the cargo-area section only. It does not include the separately molded passenger-compartment carpet or a complete passenger-and-cargo carpet set.
NOTE: “Please note as this carpet is pre-molded, it will need to be test fit and trimmed before final install. Read our manufacturer’s instruction recommendations HERE.

Molded for the Camaro Rear Hatch Floor
The third-generation Camaro cargo area contains raised sections, recessed areas and transitions that cannot be duplicated accurately with an ordinary flat piece of carpet.
ACC #2153 is formed under heat and pressure to reproduce these cargo-floor contours. The molded construction helps the carpet settle into position during installation and provides a more original-style appearance around the rear floor and hatch-opening areas.
The carpet must still be carefully test-fitted before final trimming. Molded replacement carpet is intentionally supplied with enough material around its edges to accommodate normal vehicle and installation variations.
Cargo Area Only
This listing includes the molded rear hatch cargo-floor carpet only.
It does not include the passenger-area carpet that covers the front and rear seating areas. Customers replacing both sections should select the appropriate complete-carpet configuration instead.
Related 1985-1992 Camaro ACC applications include:
- Passenger area with center-console cutout: ACC #2152
- Passenger area without center-console cutout: ACC #2154
- Complete passenger and cargo set with console cutout: ACC #8285
- Complete passenger and cargo set without console cutout: ACC #8286
- Rear cargo-area carpet only: ACC #2153
The console distinction applies to the passenger-compartment carpet. It does not affect the fitment of cargo-area part #2153.
Cutpile Carpet Construction
Cutpile is the factory-style carpet material associated with the listed Camaro application. Its individual yarn fibers create a soft, uniform surface that coordinates with the original interior while providing the durability expected from automotive flooring.
The molded cargo carpet is suitable for:
- Replacing faded original carpet
- Replacing stained or discolored cargo flooring
- Correcting torn or frayed carpet
- Replacing carpet damaged by moisture
- Finishing an interior restoration
- Refreshing a daily-driven or regularly used Camaro
- Completing an IROC-Z, RS or Z28 hatch-area restoration
- Coordinating the cargo area with replacement passenger carpet
Attached Jute Padding
The standard cargo carpet includes sound-deadening jute padding attached to the underside.
The padding helps cushion the carpet over the metal cargo floor while adding a layer of thermal and sound insulation. Inspect the vehicle’s floor before installation and remove deteriorated original padding, dirt and trapped moisture that could interfere with the replacement carpet.
The current Hawks product page only presents a color selector. Although its description contains general language concerning loose padding, a separate loose-padding choice is not displayed for this listing.
Available Colors
The current Hawks Motorsports page displays the following color selections:
- Black
- Oxblood
- Flame Red
- Carmine
- Maroon
- Dove Gray
- Medium Beige
- Medium Doeskin
- Cognac
- Almond
Carpet color names describe the manufacturer’s current materials and may not duplicate the appearance of aged original carpet. Sun exposure, previous interior repairs and normal fading can cause existing carpet and trim to appear different from their original colors.
Compare the selected carpet color with protected portions of the vehicle’s existing interior rather than relying only on exposed, faded areas.

Hatchback and Convertible Differences
Part #2153 is molded for the cargo-floor contours found beneath the rear glass hatch of a 1985-1992 Camaro hatchback.
The convertible models introduced during this model-year range use a different rear body and luggage-area configuration. Because they do not have the same hatchback cargo floor, this molded hatch carpet is not an appropriate convertible application.
Solid-roof and T-top hatchbacks use the corresponding hatch cargo-floor arrangement and are included in the listed fitment.
Installation Notes
Remove the existing rear cargo carpet and inspect the exposed floor before beginning installation. Address water leaks, surface corrosion or other floor damage before covering the area with new carpet.
Clean the floor thoroughly and remove loose material that could create visible bumps beneath the replacement. Retain the original carpet temporarily as a reference for general alignment and edge locations.
Before trimming:
- Allow the carpet to reach normal room temperature.
- Position it loosely in the rear cargo area.
- Align the major molded contours with the cargo floor.
- Work from the center toward the outer edges.
- Confirm alignment at the hatch opening and surrounding trim areas.
- Allow the carpet to relax into the floor contours.
- Mark each edge conservatively.
- Trim only a small amount of material at a time.
- Recheck the fit after every adjustment.
- Complete the final installation only after the carpet sits evenly.
Do not use the outer edge of the removed carpet as an unquestioned cutting template. Original carpet may have shifted, stretched or been trimmed inaccurately during an earlier installation.
Once the replacement carpet has been cut, altered or installed, it may no longer qualify for return under the seller’s current return policy.
Care and Cleaning
Vacuum the cargo carpet regularly with a soft automotive upholstery attachment. Remove loose debris before it becomes embedded in the cutpile fibers.
For spot cleaning, use an automotive carpet cleaner that is compatible with synthetic cutpile material. Apply the cleaner sparingly and blot the affected area with a clean cloth.
Avoid saturating the carpet or attached padding. If liquid enters the cargo area, remove or lift the carpet as necessary and allow the carpet, padding and metal floor to dry completely before reassembly.
Harsh solvents, stiff brushes and excessive scrubbing can damage the carpet fibers or create uneven coloration.
