Product Description:
Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1970-1973 Firebird Formula Trans Am Black Premier Perforated Vinyl 5-Bow Headliner with Sun Visor and Sail Panel Material, Acme 70-1513-PRP1179.
This replacement headliner is manufactured for 1970-1973 Pontiac Firebird, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am two-door models equipped with the original suspended five-bow headliner system. It is sewn to the original-style roof pattern using Black Premier Perforated Vinyl for a factory-style appearance, fit and texture.
The sewn listings on the back of the headliner accept the vehicle’s original five metal support bows. The original bows must be carefully removed from the old headliner, marked according to their front-to-rear positions and transferred into the corresponding listings of the new headliner. Replacement bows are not included.
Matching loose Black Premier Perforated Vinyl material is supplied for recovering the vehicle’s original sun visors. This additional material is unfinished yardage. It does not include assembled sun visors, replacement visor cores, finished sail panels, brackets, bows, windlace or mounting hardware. Acme headliner documentation confirms that matching material is furnished for visor recovering with its pre-sewn bow headliners.
PRP1179 is a Black Premier Perforated Vinyl designed for sew-in and bow-style automotive headliner applications. It uses a textile backing rather than foam backing, so this product should not be described as foam-backed material, a scrape-and-cover board kit or loose material by the yard.
Professional installation is recommended. Bow-style headliners require careful bow placement, accurate centering, progressive stretching and controlled trimming around the perimeter, dome light, sun visors and related interior components.
Confirm that the vehicle retains the original five-bow headliner system before ordering. Some 1973 vehicles may have a later molded-board headliner configuration that requires a different product.
