Hawks Motorsports offers our clients this 1974-1981 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Oyster Light Gray Foam-Backed Cloth ABS Hardtop Headliner Board with Upper Seat Belt Retractor Cutouts, Acme AFH21-2126.
Replace a sagging, cracked, warped or deteriorated original headliner with this molded ABS replacement board from Acme Auto Headlining. The board is covered in Oyster Light Gray foam-backed cloth, providing the finished appearance and cushioned surface needed for a clean interior restoration.
Unlike the original fiberboard-style headliner, this replacement uses vacuum-formed ABS plastic. It is shaped to follow the Camaro and Firebird hardtop roof contour and is designed around the vehicle’s factory attachment locations. The board includes the upper rear seat belt retractor cutouts required for the applicable second-generation F-body interior configuration.
The headliner arrives pre-covered with foam-backed cloth, eliminating the need to separately bond headliner material to the board. Openings for items such as the dome lamp and sun visor mounting locations may remain covered by the cloth and must be carefully exposed during installation after confirming which openings are required.

The board is initially formed to the hardtop roof shape; T-top installations require the installer to cut the board according to the applicable roof conversion and the manufacturer’s instructions.

INSTALLATION NOTES
Remove the sun visors, side roof moldings, rear window trim panel, dome-light assembly and other components that retain the original headliner. Preserve any reusable brackets, clips and hardware because these pieces may not be included with the replacement board.
Test-fit the ABS board before cutting the cloth or permanently reinstalling trim. Confirm the locations of the dome light, visor brackets and any other required openings. Where the fabric covers a pre-cut board opening, carefully cut a small X in the center of the opening, fold the material toward the back and secure it for a clean finished edge.
Install the board using the vehicle’s original attachment locations and surrounding roof trim. Do not force the ABS board into place or overtighten mounting screws, as this may damage the board, cloth or trim.
For a T-top vehicle, the hardtop-shaped board must be measured and trimmed to match the specific T-top opening. Acme notes that multiple T-top conversion designs were used, so the installer must follow the supplied cutting instructions and verify the vehicle’s exact configuration before cutting.
Professional installation is recommended, particularly when converting the board for a T-top application. Interior colors can vary because of lighting, screen settings, aged original trim and production dye lots. Compare a physical sample when an exact match with existing Oyster components is required
